Message
from the President of The Oxford and Cambridge Society Malaysia
11 May 2004
Dear Fellow Members,
Our next AGM is coming up on the 18th of June and I hope many
of you will be able to join us at the meeting. It will be my
last as President of the Society and it has certainly been an
enjoyable 3 terms for me serving the society and its members.
I hope you in turn have gained some satisfaction from being
in the Society as the Committee has worked hard to organise
a variety of events to meet the different objectives of the
Society - The Vice President ( Oxon) gave a nice Chinese New
Year party at his home, we had yet another memorable Boat Race
dinner and you can look forward to a talk by a distinguished
Malaysian speaker, a Summer Garden party hosted by the Vice
President (Cambridge) for new graduates from Oxford and Cambridge,
an English Language Event and a not- to- be missed Royal Programme
soon. As they say “the best societies nowadays either
has to feed people, amuse people or shock people!” Hopefully
we are doing a decent job of the former two…Nevertheless
we would like to hear your views and expectations from being
a member of the Society and this valuable feedback will certainly
help us plan our events better.
I am pleased to inform that we now have 382 members in our database
with updated contact details of which only 231 have functioning
e-mail addresses (18 have rejected e-mails or full mailboxes,
and 133 do not have e-mail). As you can tell, this poses a problem
for us whenever we have to communicate with you on events and
other Society happenings as email is the easiest and fastest
form of communication. However, we have resorted to fax and
even snail mail in many instances and will continue to do so
for those of you who are not comfortable with the bits and bytes!
I encourage you therefore to kindly update your contact information
with us whenever there is a change through our website at www.oxbridgemalaysia.com
As brevity does not inspire the yawn, I will end here. Please
take the time to fill up the attached brief feedback
form and send it back to us before 30th May 2004. I hope
to see you on 18th June when a full report on what the Society
has done in the year will be presented.
My warmest wishes and best regards to you
Tan Sri
Abdullah Ahmad
