"Charismatic Leaders and Superstar
CEOs: Do We Need Them?"
Corporations all over the world are constantly hiring charismatic
leaders and Superstar CEOs to lead their companies. Whether
it is to find a successor, to improve performance, to turn it
around or even to revive it, the quest continues relentlessly
in the belief that CEOs who have succeeded in their previous
companies can repeat their performance in the new companies
they are hired. Why is this obsession with charismatic leaders
and Superstar CEOs? What is the case for and against hiring
them? How successful are the charismatic leaders and Superstar
CEOs in their new companies? Are there risks in hiring them?
Should companies hire charismatic leaders and Superstar CEOs
from outside or develop leaders in house?
